Below is a brief summary of the various training programs available at
Command Pawformance. All programs are flexible and will be tailored to suit your needs
and the needs of you dog.
 |
No time to train? We will train your dog while you are at work, Monday
thru Thursday, year round. Drop off is between 8:00 a.m. and 10 a.m. and pick up is between
4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. |
Social animals A puppy's learning potential is at its greatest up to about
4 months of age. Puppies under 4 months should not be left alone while owners are away all day.
Inadequate or no socialization during this critical stage of life can create lasting behavior
problems such as separation anxiety. We will help crate train, teach manners and begin basic
obedience work. Dogs of all ages love day school. Rather than spending the day home alone they
get to socialize with other dogs, exercise, and work outdoors with trainers. |
A typical day at day school includes play exercise, periodic crate naps,
outdoor toilet breaks and brief training sessions. A dog earns freedom with good behavior and
manners in the crate. This allows him/her to join other dogs in the indoor pen for supervised
play. A leash walk through the neighborhood or at a mall completes the day. On Wednesdays
qualified dogs run in the woods for advanced off leash work. |

A private class is the starting point for: |
|
Basic obedience for new puppies and untrained
older pups |
|
Behavior modification for dogs of any age |
This is one-on-one teaching. We will cover whatever is important to you, whether
manners, basic commands, or correcting bad behavior habits. Or we make your good dog better
with tips for improved performance, and add fun with games and tricks. |
 |
Group classes are 45 minutes in length. They are ongoing and available year-round. You
may join any class that is convenient. Basic obedience is recommended for adolescent and adult
dogs of all ages. The basics (come, sit, down, walk without pulling on leash) are practiced
regularly along with new behaviors such as sitting politely while petted, greeting another dog,
or remaining down when other dogs are called to come.
Dogs of all ages and different skill levels, from beginner to advanced, may be in your class.
A pup brand new to group class can work along with a well-trained dog practicing off-leash
walking. We like the mix. Dogs and people seem to learn and observe more this way.
All family members are encouraged to come to class and learn how to work with their dog. Children
are especially welcome. |

Our favorite training place is in your own home. Dogs, as well as
people, are more comfortable and act more like themselves in their own home environment.
Seeing you together at home helps us understand all the factors that influence you and your
dog's behavior. We will travel to your home to help you direct all dog activites specific to
your household, both indoors and out.
Home visits are by appointment. |
